Alias files don't update in finder when arranged with date last opened?

Hello

I usually sort my files using the "date last opened" option. I created an alias of one file to have it available in another folder to allow better flow while working. However the alias file, regardless of the original one, doesn't update it's date after I use it and stay under the "Previous 30 days" section. Any other file will update correctly but the alias file.

Oh and the files mostly are word for mac files (.docx)

How could I solve that problem please? Is there a way?

Thank you

Hello, I tried to deleting it and I tried to make alias with different files in different folder and it seems to be a general rule that no alias file update, at least on my computer... 😕

However what I realized today is that when I open the alias file, the original file updates instead of the alias file. Which makes sense, but I would like to get both the original and the alias files to update if I open one of them.

I see what you mean. So this alias "link", will still have a "date last opened" when sorted, date related to the original file when created, and date that will not update because it doesn't retrieve that information from the original file anymore after creation.

Is there any other ways to control this information of "date last opened" ?

Could this be a suggestion to apple to have the alias retrieve the "date last opened" information from the original file when used? Where can I suggest that since Finder isn't included in the list on this site (http://www.apple.com/feedback/)?

Thanks for you help
